New Jersey State Soil Conservation Committee

The natural resources conservation program is administered by the State Soil Conservation Committee (SSCC). Established by statute in 1937, SSCC membership includes the Secretary of Agriculture (chair), the Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), the Director of Rutgers Cooperative Extension (RCE), the Dean of Cook College (Rutgers University), an appointee of the Governor and six local soil conservation district supervisors. HEPSCD has some remaining hard copies and CD's of the 2007 Essex County Soil Survey available for pickup at our office at no charge. Limited print copies of the 1975 Passaic County Soil Survey are available for pickup at no charge. The Hudson County Soil Survey was completed and made available in 2012 and can be found at the NRCS Soil Data Mart.

Digital copies of the Standards for Soil Erosion and Sediment Control in New Jersey (last revised 2012, under review) are available at no charge for preview and can be downloaded from the NJ Department of Agriculture website.

The 1999 Standards remain in effect until the review period ends and the revisions are published in the NJ Register. There will be a grace period for the introduction of the revised Standards. Hardcopies of the 1999 NJ Standards are available at the District office for $35 plus shipping/handling.
